  • 2018 Richard E. Wyman Scholarship Award

    The Salt Lake Petroleum Section (SLPS) of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is pleased to offer, for the first time, the Richard E. Wyman Scholarship in the amount of $2000 to a select graduate student pursuing a M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering, Geology, or Geophysics with study and research emphasis related to the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. This scholarship is for the 2018-2019 academic year. Only students currently enrolled in a graduate program to receive an advanced degree in Petroleum Engineering, or students who are studying in a related technical field and conducting thesis work related to exploration for and/or extraction of petroleum resources, will be considered for this scholarship award. Residents from the Section service area, including parts of Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming, are eligible to apply for this award.

    A scholarship recipient will be selected through an application process in November 2018 by a Scholarship Selection Committee. The scholarship application form can be downloaded by selecting Scholarships on the About Us tab. To apply for the scholarship, please download the form, fill in all requested information, and then email the completed form with any other attachments to saltlake@spemail.org. Application deadline is November 15, 2018.
